LATE night DJ Cece Keyes is having a bad day. It’s her 30th birthday, her boyfriend of four years is getting married to someone else today and she’s being threatened with retrenchment if she doesn’t control herself more on air.
If she thought her day couldn’t get any worse – she was wrong.
First her mother phones in and embarrasses her live on air, and then she gets a phone call from a woman called Mary.
She’s just caught her husband cheating on her, on their wedding day with the maid of honour.
Cece is uninterested and about to slam the phone down when Mary announces she’s holding the guy hostage and is armed and dangerous.
Thinking it nothing more than a prank, but good radio nonetheless, Cece plays along and dares her to stand up for womenkind and kill the guy.
It’s only when Mary tells her the name of the guy, Cece realises what a big mistake she’s made – it’s her ex-boyfriend.
Moments later producer Frank phones in, firing Cece on the spot, but the drama is far from over, as Mary arrives at the studio, dragging some excess baggage with her.
It gets even crazier from this point, and the audience laughed virtually from start to finish of this well-written and acted comedy.
Although very much from the woman’s point of view, it will appeal to anyone who’s ever been cheated on, or felt unlucky in love.
Well worth a look.
